Accreditation and Career Development

Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) is the mark of distinction for public relations professionals who are committed to the profession and to its ethical practice. By pursuing the APR designation, public relations professionals identify our profession as one based on a broad body of knowledge. Furthermore, individual professionals demonstrate their personal commitment to adhering to ethical practice, definable knowledge base, and valuable counsel.

While our chapter’s Accreditation efforts are coordinated by the chapter’s Accreditation chair, statewide efforts to support Accreditation include an annual JumpStart session and a subsidy program to partially reimburse candidates for examination expenses. As members of the Southern Public Relations Federation, chapter members also qualify for an additional subsidy from SPRF.

Nationally, the APR designation is managed by the Universal Accreditation Board. SPRF is currently one of nine public relations organizations that form this group, which administers the Accreditation credential and program nationally.
